Mr. P. Raghavendran receives the President’s Prize from Mr. H. V. R. Iengar (Chairman, Board of Governors)

Mr. P. Raghavendran (3 year B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering) won the President’s Prize (awarded to the B. Tech. degree student who held the best academic record) in the year 1969. After his graduation, he joined Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as a management trainee, and continued with them until 1994 in various capacities. During his time at IOC he also completed a two year management program at Sloan, MIT (1981-1983) and spent two years in charge of Petroleum in the Planning Commission, Government of India (1983-1985). He joined Reliance in 1994 and was involved in the planning and setting up of its two giant refineries at Jamnagar. He recently retired from his position as President (Refinery Business) but continues to be involved with the Reliance group in a mentorship role. Apart from this he has taken up teaching at various business schools including several IIMs and Government of India training institutions for the petroleum industry. In the image: Mr. H. V. R.
