During Mardi Gras ’83, Prof. P. V. Indiresan (Director, IIT Madras) can be seen addressing the audience during the Valedictory function at Central Lecture Theatre. He was appointed as Director of IIT Madras in April 1979. Having served as Director for a total of five years, until 1984, he made several contributions to the Institute during his tenure. For instance, the introduction of a credit system was one of his major contributions to the Institution. He also introduced a system of having Deans in the IIT Madras for the first time. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2000. He also worked as a professor at IIT Delhi (Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering), during 1965-1979 and 1987-1993. 


On the wall behind him, a few boards and posters can be seen. For instance, one poster is from ‘Toshiba Anand’, which was one of the major sponsors of Mardi Gras ’83. There is also a visible ‘no smoking’ sign that can be seen.

N S Vinodh. After completing an early education in Bangalore, N. S. Vinodh obtained his B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras in 1986. Being the secretary of the Photography Club at IIT Madras during his third year, he was an avid photography enthusiast. He then went on to complete his MBA from IIM, Lucknow, and later spent his career holding senior positions in the field of corporate real estate with leading multinational financial services companies. He continued to pursue his hobby of photography, integrating it with his love of travel and wildlife.
