At Saarang 2003

It is likely that the coordinators for events are registering participants in this photograph. The photograph was taken at the entrance of the Central Lecture Theatre (CLT) at the Humanities and Social Sciences Block. This can be ascertained by the staircase which still looks the same (as of November 2022). There were plenty of programmes organized at Saarang for college students from across the country. Over 300 coordinators helped in organizing the event. We do not know who the persons in the photograph are. If you know any of the individuals, please reach out to us.

This photograph was probably taken at the Open Air Theatre (OAT), where music shows were organized in the evenings. At Saarant 2003, performers such as Kadri Gopalnath and Moksha the band, singer Shaan, and the metal band Brahma performed at the OAT. Another event that was held at the OAT was Choreo-nite, the dance competition. It is not clear which of these events was taking place when this photograph was taken. Some of these included design contests, paper presentation contests, entrepreneurship contests and many more. This photograph appears to have been taken during a contest involving designing or painting, but we are not sure about this. The persons in the photograph are yet to be identified. This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ annual fest Saarang. We think that this photograph was taken at an event involving breaking a pot while being blindfolded. This assumption has been made on the basis that a photograph from this album shows a boy holding a poster saying “Pot Break!!!” The coordinators appear to be filling the pot with water.
