The chief guest for the Third Institute Day of IIT Madras was Dr. Paramasivan Subbarayan (1889-1962), the well-known Indian advocate and politician. He was also an ardent patriot, able administrator and a prominent social reformer. He was born in Tamil Nadu and graduated from Presidency College, Madras. He pursued his M.A. at the University of Oxford and subsequently obtained an LLB from Trinity College, Dublin. He started his career as an advocate in the Madras High Court.
