The chief guest, Mr. C. Subramaniam (Union Minister for Food and Agriculture) was unable to attend the function. Thus Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras), was the chief guest at the Seventh Institute Day. This was the first time that this happened.
This photograph was taken during the variety programme of the Seventh Institute Day. The magic show was a part of the variety programme staged on the occasion. The other programmes included songs by various groups including the Beat-X, (a band consisting of B. Tech. students), a couple of plays including a Tamil play, and a mushaira. Mr. Gopal Ramachandran graduated with a B. Tech. degree in electrical engineering in 1967.
